Evansville, WI -- Melvin R. Arnold, age 83, died Monday, May 14, 2018, at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on December 15, 1934 in Lake Geneva, WI, the son of Myrt and Beulah (Thevenot) Arnold. He served in the United States Army from May 3, 1957 until April 3, 1959. Melvin married Joyce McAffee on June 25, 1955 in Beloit, WI, and she preceded him in death on October 29, 2016. He was employed by Varco Pruden's in Evansville for over twenty years, retiring in 2000. Melvin bartended for several years at the V.F.W. in Evansville and Union Tavern. He enjoyed gardening, gambling, socializing with friends, and was best known as poor Mel. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children: Mark (Kim) Arnold of Nekoosa, Vickie (Randy) Wienke of Brooklyn, Tammy (Greg) Schultz of Monroe; his grandchildren: Spring (Josh) Wilson, Sarah Arnold, Jeremie (Jessica) Wienke, Stacy (Scott) Norton, Shenna (Preston) Hall, Shane Dougherty, Casey Griffen; his great grandchildren: Marcus, Gaberial, Camden, Callie, Taylor, Emily, Ann, David, Jacob, Lilly, Chase, Ella, Jaxson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; an infant son, Michael; two brothers, Wayne and Kenneth.
