Details for Marian Ruth Kjernes

Marian Ruth (Olstad) Kjernes , 94 of Janesville, WI passed away at her home on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018. She was lovingly called “Honey” by most, Marian was born on Sept. 20, 1923, to Leo and Jessie Olstad in Edgerton, WI. She attended Edgerton High School graduating in 1941. She worked for a short time at Nunn Bush Shoes before marrying the love of her life, Owen Kjernes on April 17, 1943, in Cooksville. She then was busy with helping and cooking on the farm and was known to be a great cook! She was a member of Cooksville Lutheran Church for many years and was active in Sunday school, all the church groups, and most important the church Choir where she sang with her husband, Owen. Later in life she joined Central Lutheran Church. Her biggest love in life was her family. She cherished her son Dale until his death on May 20, 2017. She suffered through 6 miscarriages before her daughter, Julie was born. Besides being a mother, being a grandmother was her calling. She was so devoted that she and Owen moved from the farm to Janesville to baby sit her two grandchildren, Billy and Lisa. And last, she enjoyed time with her great-grandson, Payton. She attended any event that her children or grandchildren were involved in as a great privilege. She desperately missed her many relatives and friends who had gone before her. She truly was an “Angel on Earth”.

Marian is survived by her daughter, Julie (Dan) Raese of Janesville, WI; Brother, John Olstad of Drummond, WI; Sister-in-law, Joyce Olstad; Special Cousin (like a brother), Roger Olstad of Edgerton; Grandchildren: Billy Press, Lisa Press (Jeff Waldhart), Tara Raese, Jessie (Levi) Wilson, Joe Raese (Erika Fay). Great Grandchildren: Payton Press, Nathan and Parker Raese, Alex and Evan Wilson; and many loving nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Owen; her son, Dale; brothers: Bob, Clayton and Wally Olstad; sister-in-laws: Carole, MaryAnn and Pauline Olstad and Gladys Haakenson; and brother-in-law Haakon Haakenson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Central Lutheran Church, Edgerton with Pastor Erik Jelinek officiating. Burial will follow at Cooksville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service. Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Edgerton are assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials in her name may be made to Central Lutheran Church or Agrace Hospice.

A special thanks to Agrace Hospice for giving Marian the gift to be home until the end. Their love and care were so special.
