Details for James F. Karow

James F. Karow, age 70, of Beloit, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at St. Mary‘s Hospital in Janesville. He was born in Beloit on October 18, 1947 to Lawrence and Helen (Schroeder) Karow. Jim graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, Class of 1965, and completed his 5 year apprenticeship with Pody Plumbing before becoming a licensed plumber. He married Terry A. Johnson on September 30, 1967 in Beloit. Together, they shared a beautiful life journey and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Jim worked as a plumber for many years, before he became the Building and Plumbing Inspector for the City of Janesville. His knowledge, professionalism and compassion defined his 26 year career for the City until his retirement in 2011. Jim’s greatest joys were the people in his life. All his pastimes centered around his relationships, whether road tripping with his wife, or vacationing with his family. He was an avid golfer who loved the sport, but moreover cherished the time spent on the links with dear friends and family. Over the years, Jim developed and nourished many wonderful friendships; his genuine kindness, patience and integrity impressed his many friends, and set a foundation with his daily examples for his two daughters. He and his wife’s bond was a true friendship and partnership wrapped in love. He adored his grandchildren and spoiled them, as only a grandpa could.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Karow; his two daughters, Katie (Jason Jecmen) Karow and Julie (Jeff) Zaper and their two children, Valerie and Graham James Zaper; his sister, Barbara (Miles) Carlson; his nephew, Alex (Jill) Carlson; niece, Inger (Tommy) Hendrickson; and many longtime and valued friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He carried on his parent's legacy of love to his own family.

Jim’s funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit with Rev. Erik Jelinek officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday in the Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Please share a memory or a condolence with the family at the service or on our website,
