Details for Evelyn Mary O'Connor

Evelyn Mary (Waters) O’Connor, age 93, of Delavan, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. Evelyn was a longtime resident of Delavan, where she lived and raised her seven children. She was born on February 18, 1924 to Archibald and Lucina (Houk) Waters on a small farm in North Prairie, WI. She helped her father as a farmhand in Palmyra as a young adult. After graduation, she moved to Delavan to work at the Power & Light Company as a bookkeeper. She later took a job at Schultz Bros., where she met the man who would become her partner in love and marriage, Kenneth O'Connor. They were united in marriage on June 17, 1950, and began what would become a large family. The lived happily in Delavan the rest of their lives. Evelyn was a very intelligent, wise, caring and faithful person. She believed in the love of a family, and her faith in God guided her entire life. She believed in honesty, respect, integrity, and kindness. She will be dearly missed by her family, and many people who became friends throughout her life. Evelyn is survived by her son, James O’Connor, of Elkhorn; six daughters: Cathy (James) Giese, of Lake Geneva, Sue DeMarasse, of Janesville, WI, Mary (Pat Ryan) O'Connor, of Janesville, WI, Karen Steward, of Mazomanie, WI, Patti (Skip) Soukup, of Delavan, and Dianna O’Connor, of Appleton; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings: Jerome (Marion) Waters, Lorraine (Francis) Koss, and Martha (Isaac) Parker; and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; a grandson, Jeremy Steward; a daughter-in-law, Judith O’Connor; and son-in-law, Rene DeMarasse. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 714 E. Walworth Ave in Delavan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at MONROE FUNERAL HOME, 604 E. Walworth Ave in Delavan from 9 a.m., with a Rosary at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Sauk City at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017.
