Clinton, WI -- In the early morning of June 12, 2018, Edward Emil Stephan left his earthly home for his Heavenly one after a long illness. He was born to Emil and Elvira (Dalrymple) Stephan on September 1, 1940 in Green County, WI. He grew up living on farms in the Clinton, WI area. He was a member of 4-H and the FFA and loved working with animals. Showing at the Walworth County Fair was a joy for him, and he passed on this tradition to his sons and grandchildren. He graduated from Clinton High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. He served in the National Guard from 1962 to 1968 and was called several times to active duty. He worked as a cattle buyer for Wilson Meats in the Minnesota and Iowa area. He returned to the Clinton area, becoming a dairy farmer and working as a loan officer for Farm Credit Services in Union Grove. It was there that he met his future wife, Cheryl L. Boatright, and they were married on December 28, 1979.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his stepson, Jason (Jennifer) Yates; five grandchildren: MiKayla Yates, Olivia Horak, Alaina Yates, Nathan Wilson and Natalie Yates; one great-granddaughter, Reese Finster; three sisters: Marilyn (Ray) Lowry, Virginia Utesch and Janet Schilke; a foster brother, Darwin (June) Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepson, Joshua Yates; and two brother-in-laws, Hank Schilke and Arlan Utesch. Ed will be forever missed by his family that he loved so much.
Ed’s Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday June 16, 2018 in the BRIAN G. MARK Funeral Home, 504 Milwaukee Road, Clinton with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday in the Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon, WI. A memorial is being established in his name to benefit the Allens Grove playground equipment park fund, where the family farm is.
