Blanche E. Martin, age 92, of Janesville, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Cedar Crest Nursing Home in Janesville. She was born on May 13, 1920, in Loves Park, IL, the daughter of William and Effie (Schneider) Vickers. She attended South Wayne Schools. Blanche married Lawrence T. Martin on Oct. 1, 1938, in Dubuque, IA. Blanche worked at Monroe Clinic Hospital doing Housekeeping until her retirement. She was a member of Martintown Community Church and active in the Ladies Aid.
Blanche is survived by three sons: Lawrence “Larry” (Dorothy) Martin of Forreston, IL, Charles “Chuck” (Gloria) Martin of Rockford, IL, and David (Linda) Martin of Baileyville, IL; three daughters: Beverly Sorn of Janesville, Charlotte “June” Walters of Milton, and Mary Lynn (Dennis) Koester of Janesville; sisters, May McKee of Warren, IL, and Ellen (Homer) Smith of Stanford, IL; 38 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence in November of 1993; seven brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sons-in-law, Jack Walters and Luke Sorn; and one daughter-in-law, Judy Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21. 2013, at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME in Monroe, WI, with Pastor Lowell Stuessy officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport, IL. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the FUNERAL HOME.
