Florence Katherine Baker, Milton, WI  (1913 - 2013)

Florence Katherine Baker, 99, of Milton, died at Rock Haven Nursing Home, on Feb. 24, 2013, after a stay of 16 months. Florence was born on June 16, 1913, in Milton Junction, WI, to Uriah M. "Rye" and Hazel (Burdick) Baker in a house where she lived for almost eighty years. She graduated from Union High School of Milton in 1932. She then worked as the high schools first secretary for the next three years. She then became secretary and cost accountant to F.A. Anderson, President of the Burdick Corporation, from where she retired in 1978, after 42 years of service. Florence enjoyed traveling, playing cards (Bridge), reading, crossword puzzles, and being with her friends and family. She also gave to many charities. Florence was a member of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church and the Prairie Du Lac Ovesters Club. She was also a member and past president of the Altrusa Club of Janesville, the Milton Women's Club, and the Milton Woman's Business and Professional Club.
Florence is survived by Harold "Reg" Baker, her nephew, of Niles, MI; her niece, Barbara Baker of Mulberry, FL; her cousin, Carol Blomgren of Milton; and many cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold Randolph Baker; sister-in-law, Doris (Vincent) Baker; nephew, Gary Gene Baker; and niece, Gerry Baker.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, MILTON, on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 2 p.m. with Pastor George Calhoun officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the FUNERAL HOME from 1 p.m. until the start of the service. Expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Florence to Agrace HospiceCare Inc.
