Marjorie O. Nelson, 89, of Beloit, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Marjorie was born on Aug. 3, 1923, in Osseo, the beloved daughter of the late Hilman and Cora Jacobson. Marjorie was the loving wife of Raymond L. Nelson. They were married in Beloit on Dec. 10, 1949, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and were blessed with 63 years together.
Marjorie graduated from Mondovi High School in 1941. She received her nursing degree in 1945, from Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Chicago. She also belonged to the Cadet Nurse Corps. Upon graduation, she started her career at Beloit Memorial Hospital. In 1947, she went to work for Dr. Clark until 1949, when she took a break from nursing to start her family. She later returned to Beloit Memorial Hospital and worked there for 26 years; specializing in obstetrics.
A long-time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, she served on the altar guild and was a member of the Leah Circle. Many of the things she enjoyed were reading, knitting, sewing, baking and cooking. She treasured time with family and friends and demonstrated her faith in her daily life.
Her fortitude during her years of living with Parkinson’s disease was a testament to her faith and her strength. The family is grateful for those who gave her loving care over the past years especially Diane, Phyllis, Betty, Joanna, Claudia, and Suzanna, along with others from the Home Companion Registry. They acknowledge the care from the staff at Premier Rehab. The family also wants to extend a special thank you to her friend and helper, Paula. A special acknowledgment and thanks to the physicians at Beloit Clinic, especially Dr. Pawel Olszewski for the care she received. She will be forever in our hearts.
