Betty J. Cook, Janesville (1931 - 2013)
Betty J. Cook, 82, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Cedar Crest Healthcare Center, Janesville. She was born January 8, 1931 in Webster, North Dakota, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Sowatske) Wells. Betty was married to Charles Cook on July 7, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beloit. Betty was a very active 4-H leader, member of the Rock County Dairy Producers, and belonged to the Avon and Magnolia Homemakers Clubs. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Brodhead, where she did volunteer work. Betty enjoyed life, always with a cup of coffee in her hand. She liked dancing with her husband, playing cards, and good company. She was devoted to her family and a caregiver to others.
She is survived by her husband Charles; sons: James, David (Tammy Reed), Ronald (Jean) and Richard; daughter, Mary Margaret (Mark) Haag; grandchildren: Brandon, Brian (Alli), Shana, Jeffray, and Kaitlyn Cook, Roni (Ian) Stapelmann, and Nathan and Jacob Haag; great-grandchild, Emersyn Cook; sisters: Dorothy Degatis, Josephine Bishop, Margaret (Don) Huseman; brothers, Charles (Kay) Wells, Jr. and James (Betty) Wells. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Alice Bue and Arlene Wald; and brother, Arnold Wells.
Funeral services will be held at UNITED METHODIST CHURCH of Brodhead at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013, with Pastor Hap Itson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at NEWCOMER-SILVERTHORN, Hwy 11 and South Coon Island Road, Orfordville on Thursday evening from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
