Lillian Viola Joranlien, Janesville/Formerly of Beloit, WI and Orfordville, WI  (1918 - 2013)

Lillian Viola Joranlien, age 94, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013, at Cedar Crest, Janesville. She was born on Aug. 12, 1918, in Guthrie Center, IA, the daughter of Sam and Katherine (Nielsen) Simonsen. Lillian graduated from Clinton High School in 1935 at the age of 16. She had worked at the Clinton Bakery and was also a housekeeper for the Karstaedts family in Beloit. She married George Joranlien on Oct. 12, 1940, in Luther Valley, and shared sixty-six years of marriage together. They farmed in Newark Township and retired in 1982. Lillian and George moved to Beloit and enjoyed taking many trips throughout the United States and Canada. Lillian was a long time member of Luther Valley Church.
She is survived by her daughters: Janice Sweetman of Footville, WI, Lois (Ed) James of Janesville and Peggy (Ken) Bell of Orfordville; grandchildren: Shelley (Ken) McClellan, David (Jessica) Wells, Kevin (Wendy) Wells, Tracy Egan, Connie (Paul) Jenkin, Debbie James, Jeffrey (Carrie) James, Dan (Kim) Bell and Amy (Andrew) Simon; a brother, Milford Simonsen of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren: Landra, Rory, Andy, Derrick, Dylan Ashley, Joshua, Cody, Madeline, Landon, Kailyn, Alexis, Brooke and Taylor; and great-great-grandchildren, Aiden and Alivia.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; son, Ronald; sisters, Leona and Lilla; brother, Ivan: and great-grandchild, Daniel.
Funeral services will be held at LUTHER VALLEY CHURCH at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2013, with Pastor Mary Froiland officiating. Burial will be in Luther Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at NEWCOMER-SILVERTHORN CHAPEL ON THE HILL, Hwy 11 and South Coon Island Road, Orfordville, on Wednesday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.
