MILTON, WI/FORMERLY OF EDGERTON, WI—Edwin E. "Ed" Shaw left this world to be with our Lord and savior, at the Edgerton Care Center, Edgerton, WI, on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the age of 83. Ed was born on March 10, 1929, in Janesville, WI, the son of Elston and Emma (Maxson) Shaw. He graduated from Milton Union High School in 1947, and from Milton College in 1956. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He married Martha A. McCumber on Oct. 13, 1951. Ed worked at General Motors in Janesville, Beloit Corp in Beloit, WI, and at the Sharon Foundry in Sharon, WI, retiring in 1994. He was a life-long member of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church. Ed sang for several years with the Cordhawks of Janesville and the Blue Notes of Milton along with a barbershop quartet, The Forte Four. He was active in the Boy Scouts and Explorers of American, for many years, the Masonic Masons, 32 Degree Mason, Worshipful Master in 1963 and 1978, Thrice Illustrious Master in 1994, High Priest in 1999 and 2000, Worthy Patron of OES in 1976, Watchman of Shepards White Shrine in 1974 and 1977, Royal Patron Amaranth in 1979 and 1989, and Grand Royal Patron Amaranth for the State of WI, in 1986.
Ed is survived by his wife, Martha; his three children: Dennis (Diane) Shaw, Dawn (Scott) Scoville, and Teresa (Rinald) Kersten; eight grandchildren: Mike Shaw, Lisa (Jess) Reif, Dan (Christine) Shaw, Andrew (Dawn) Zimmerman and Matthew Zimmerman, Sarah (Josh) Green, Nicholas (Brittany) Kersten, and Randy (Marcy) Kersten; 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, William (Kaye) McCumber; several nieces; and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Dorothy (Maxson) Shaw; two brothers-in-law, Raymond and Robert McCumber; sister-in-law, Corrine McCumber; several aunts; and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013, at the SEVENTH DAY BAPTIST CHURCH, Milton, with pastor George Calhoun officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in the Milton Cemetery. Visitation times will be on Sunday, March 10, 2013, from 3 until 5 p.m. with a Masonic service to be held at 4:45 p.m. at the ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, Milton, and from 10 a.m. until time of services, Monday, March 11, 2013, at the CHURCH.
