Dave Brown, Janesville  (1937 - 2013)

Dave Brown, age 75, of Janesville, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at home. He was born in Janesville, on Aug. 24, 1937, the son of Harold and Dorothy (Caldow) Brown. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1955, and received his Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Information Technology from UW-Madison. Dave was a member of the ROTC, and after college served in the U.S. Army from 1959 until 1963. He had been employed by the Chancellor’s Office for UW-Madison for 27 years and retired in 1994. He had served on the Rock County Board of Supervisors District 9 for one year, the County’s Education, Veterans, and Aging Services Committee, Public Works Committee and the Fulton Town Board from 2008 to 2012. Dave was a green environmental advocate at his home, and also a consultant and informational speaker on the green environment. He was a member of the UW Flying Club, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church loft choir. He was CEO of DBEC (Dave Brown Executive Consulting), a technical advisor for Videogenics, and the National Dairy Shrine, Fort Atkinson.
Dave is survived by his wife, Kathie Brown; three children: Michael (Denise) Brown of Rochester, NY, James Brown of Washington, DC, and Cecilia (Jeff) Ketner of Cottage Grove; five grandchildren: Katie Brown of San Francisco, Maggie Brown of Rochester, NY, Nicole Balistreri of Boca Raton, FL, Alex Ketner of Cottage Grove, and Paxton Ketner of Cottage Grove; one great-grandchild, Maezy Caldow Brown of Rochester, NY; one brother, Richard Brown of Flat Rock, NC; one sister, Rhea (Michael) Bischoff of Stanford, CT; nieces and nephews: Carolyn (Jay) Peters, Chrissy (Andrew) Fleming, Jen Brown, Dan (Laura) Brown and Jeff (Naddya) Bischoff; two great nieces, Gracie and Marianna; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Wyss; brother-in-law, Robert Wyss; sister-in-law, Nancy Brown; and nephew, Ron Wyss.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. Stephen J. Umhoefer and Fr. Robert Hughes officiating. Interment will be in Fassett Cemetery, Edgerton. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY.
