Joan M. Jacobson, Janesville (1930 - 2013)

Joan M. Jacobson, 82, of Janesville, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. Joan was born in Janesville, on Dec. 25, 1930, the daughter of Frank and Sylvia (Holt) MacFarlane. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1949. Joan married William I. Jacobson on Jan. 29, 1950. She was formerly employed by the Key Rexall Drug Store, where she learned to become a certified prosthesis fitter. She later was employed by Mercy Home Care as a prosthesis fitter. Joan was active with several health care groups over the years and helped found the wig program for cancer patients and the diabetic support group. She was a member of Cargill United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose #377. Above all else, Joan was very proud of her Norwegian heritage “UFF-DA”.
Joan is survived by her husband of 63 years, William I. Jacobson' three children: Bill (Carol) Jacobson of Janesville, Dan (Barb) Jacobson of Mt. Horeb, WI, and Margie (Jim) Murphy of Janesville; eight grandchildren: Chris Ford, Peter (Amanda) Jacobson, Steven (Stephanie) Jacobson, Dan (Brooke) Jacobson, Jenni Jacobson, Michael Murphy, Patrick (Kristi) Murphy, Betsy (special friend-Tom Bechen) Murphy; seven great-grandchildren: Jack, Alex, Henry, Klare, Matthew, James and Cassidy; one sister, Beth Carlson; two brothers, Terry (Linda) Forrette and Bruce Forrette; nieces; nephews; numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Les Forrette; and one brother, Curt MacFarlane.
Funeral services will be at Noon Thursday, March 7, 2013, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville, with Rev. Forrest Wells officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until Noon at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME.
