Robert (Bob) Stacy Kitto, 74, of Beloit, WI, passed away in his home on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, after battling cancer. Bob was born in Beloit, on April 11, 1938, the son of Charles and Helen (Trostle) Kitto. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1956, and from Beloit College in 1960, with a degree in economics. Bob married Sue Lahey on Aug. 28, 1965, in Two Rivers, WI. Sue preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 2011.
Bob worked as an accountant and computer programmer. He worked at Beloit Corporation for 26 years as a programmer. He and Sue opened Campus Antiques Mall in Milton, WI, in 1989, and operated it together until 2008. Bob loved music and played cornet and trumpet. He had his own dance band in high school and college and also played along with the Uncle Julius Band for many years. Like his parents, he loved the circus. For several years, Bob and Sue spent their vacations traveling with favorite circuses playing in the circus band. Along with his wife, he was an avid reader. Bob also served on the Beloit City Council and Beloit Housing Authority Board.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Sherri Lamm (John Love) of Edgerton, WI; and son, Christopher (Nicholl) Kitto; one sister, Suzanne Kitto of Beloit; grandchildren, Branden and Kai; and great-grandson, Landon of Beloit. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Ruth “Pat” and Dean Mahlum of Beloit, and Arthur and Mary Lahey of Horicon, WI; and a niece; three nephews; and cousins. Bob was predeceased by his parents; wife; and sister-in-law, Sandy.
A special thank you to all of the caring people of Heartland Hospice for their care of Bob over the last few weeks.
In accordance with Bob's wishes, he is being cremated. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH of Beloit, 801 Bushnell Street. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the time of Service.
Memorials in memory of Bob can be given to the First Congregational Church of Beloit.
