Reva J. Porter, 85, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at St. Elizabeth’s Manor, Footville, WI. She was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Vernon and Grace (Rahorn) Adleman. Reva was a 1945 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School and received her Master’s Degree in Teaching from UW-Whitewater. She married Russell Porter on May 30, 1948, at West Side Presbyterian Church, Beloit, WI.
Reva was employed as a teacher with the Hanover School District and later with the Beloit School District. She was a member of Sun Valley Presbyterian Church, where she served as Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir member. Reva was also a member of the Beloit Education Association and the Wisconsin Retired Teachers Association. She loved to travel, spend time with her family, teach children, and garden.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Russell Porter of Beloit, WI; three children: Douglas (Edith) Porter of Rockton, IL, Debra (Harry) Oster of Beloit, WI, and Dennis (fiancé, Penelope) Porter of Delafield, WI; eight grandchildren: Brian, Scott, and Aaron Porter, Jeremy Oster, Kristilyn Falkenthal, Audra, Haley, and Jordan Porter; six great-grandchildren: Easton and Alissa Falkenthal, Georgetta Cullen, Jacob, Madison, and JulieAnn Oster; sister, Delores Schoville of Seattle, WA; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law, James Schoville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the SUN VALLEY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1650 Sun Valley, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Dave Ewing officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.
