James J. Shea, Janesville, WI  (1928 - 2013)

James J. Shea, age 84, of Janesville, died on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at home. He was born in Janesville on Aug. 26, 1928, the son of James J. and Lorene (Pendergast) Shea. He served in the National Guard, and married Arlene Lien in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on April 14, 1951. Jim had been employed by the Department of Catholic Cemeteries where he managed Mt. Olivet, Mt. Tabor, and Calvary Cemeteries until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters Court 229, where he acted as treasurer for 40 years, and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
James is survived by his wife, Arlene Shea; five children: Janine Shea of Janesville, Michael (Linda) Shea of Janesville, Carey Ann Shea of Flint, MI, Pamela Shea of Janesville, and Nancy Shea of Jefferson; WI; former son-in-law, Russ Chapman; seven grandchildren: Marilyn Chapman, Nasara Shea-Horne, Tony Tompkins, Jeremy Tompkins, Sherri Jones, Shannon Colson and Hugh Jacobson; 13
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom (Sandy) Shea of Janesville and Bill (Dolly) Shea of Shreveport, LA; and two sisters, Lorene Schultz of Madison, WI and Mary Schoeberle of Fitchburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother and a sister-in-law, John and Mary Shea.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. John Auby officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at the CHURCH. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
