Frank J. Marsden, Beloit, WI (1932 - 2013)

Frank J. Marsden, 81, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, in the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, WI. He was born Jan. 27, 1932, in Beloit, the son of Frank and Melvina (Musselman) Marsden. Frank was a 1950 graduate of Beloit High School. Following graduation, he worked at Omar Bakery, until entering the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War in Okinawa. Frank married Suzann “Sue” White on Jan. 23, 1954, in the First Congregational Church, Janesville, WI. Upon his return to Beloit, Frank was employed as the purchasing agent for 17 years for Hanson Equipment and then the sales manager at WBEL. He was also the Bailiff for Judge Jaeckle and for Judge Byron, retiring in 2008. Frank and Sue were the owners and operators of the Dari Ripple from 1976 to 1992.
Frank was a former member of the Beloit City Council, Beloit School Board, and the Rock County Board of Supervisors. He was a current member of the Alcohol Advisory and Review Board, the Beloit Lions Club, the Stateline Boys and Girls Club, and the V.F.W. Post #1621. Frank was a former member of the Beloit Police and Fire Commission, City of Beloit Board of Review, the Red Cross, and the South Beloit Rescue Squad, the Jaycees, and the Beloit Ambassadors. In 1973, he was awarded Ambassador of the Year, and also in June of 1993, he was selected as the Beloit Daily News Volunteer of the Month. He was a Charter Member of the Turtle Fire Department. Frank was a very active member of the First Baptist Church, serving on the church board of trustees, board of Deacons, and as an usher. He was a volunteer at Airfest and very involved with the Heart to Heart Program at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Rockford, IL. Frank was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sue Marsden of Beloit; three children: Kristi (Kevin) Hayden of Janesville, WI, and their children: Lauren and Taylor Hayden; Mark (Mary) Marsden of Phillips, WI, and their son, Jonathon (Alecia) Marsden; and Heidi Marsden of Beloit, and her children: Ashley Marsden, Joshua and Michael Brooks; brothers: George (Wilma) Marsden of Columbia, MO, Jack (Sharon) Marsden of Conway, SC, Michael (Karen) Marsden of Appleton, WI, Donald (Cindy) Marsden of Loves Park, IL, and Jim (Marietta) Marsden of Criderville, OH; numerous nieces; and nephews; and their first great-grandchild who is due in May. He was predeceased by his parents; stepmother, Kathleen Marsden; grandson, Jeremy Marsden; and sister, Sally Marsden.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 617 Public Ave., Beloit, WI with Rev. Stephen Hawkins and Rev. Gene Van Galder co-officiating. Inurnment will be in Emerald Grove Cemetery, Bradford Township, WI. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. in the DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.
