Elaine G. Smith, Janesville, WI  (1925 - 2013)

Elaine G. Smith, 87, of Janesville, passed away peacefully at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, in St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by family. Elaine was born May 8, 1925, in Prairie Farm, WI, the daughter of Arthur Lawrence and Clara P. (Espeseth) Ritter. Elaine married the former Eugene F. Tomashek in December of 1946. Elaine later married John R. Smith in July 1956, who built the family home in late 1940s, in Janesville. Elaine was employed as a waitress and caregiver with Sherman Retirement Homes. Elaine spent her time caring for her family and was involved with the Gardening Club and other organizations around the Janesville area. Our mother and grandmother (Grandma Sunshine) is lovingly remembered for her delicious cooking, her giving spirit, and sociable nature. Later in life, Elaine was involved with judging at the 4H-Fair.
Survivors include brother, Dale (Joanne) Ritter; sons: Patrick (Nancy) Tomashek, Mark Tomashek, Eugene (Evelyn) Tomashek, Jeff Tomashek, Dan (Gail) Tomashek, Garrett Smith and Shawn
(Christine) Smith; daughters: Mary Beth Tomashek-Elliot (Tom), Susan E. Smith, Sarah Smith and Shannon Smith; grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Staci, Cameron, Jeremy, Heather (Steve), Daniel, Patrick, Kimberely, Graham, Grant, Jordan, Chelsea, Catherine, Melissa, Shawn, Kathleen and Anna; great-grandchildren: Lannon Star, Ally, Lauren, Brier and Drew. She was preceded in death by Eugene Tomashek and John Smith; sons: John, Shane and Billy; and a sister, Ramona “Mona” Short (Robert).
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Rev. Randy Timmerman officiating. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Friday from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME.
