Donald P. "Donnie" Lund, Edgerton, WI  (1928 - 2013)

Donald P. "Donnie" Lund, 84, of rural Edgerton, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Stoughton Hospital. He was born on April 24, 1928, in Edgerton, son of the late Ole and Palma (Johnson) Lund. He was united in marriage on Nov. 12, 1949, to Katherine Hanson at First Lutheran Church, Stoughton. Donnie was a lifelong dairy and crop farmer who especially enjoyed raising tobacco. His hobbies included dancing, playing cards, bowling and trips to Las Vegas. He was happiest when spending time with family and friends.
As a member of the Edgerton Lions he enjoyed going to the meetings and selling raffle tickets. He received the Lions' Melvin Jones Award in 2000. Professionally, he was a member of the Wisconsin Tobacco Growers Association and American Milk Producers Inc. He and his wife were royalty of Edgerton's Tobacco Heritage Days festival in 1990 and named "Friends of the Festival" in 2000.
Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Katherine; five daughters: Pam (Ken) Hunt of Oconomowoc, Peggy (Bob) Houfe, Janis (Rick) Olstad, Marcia (Dan) Reilly, Kathy (Doug) Wileman, all of Edgerton; two sons, Terry Lund and Ron (Sheri) Lund, both of Edgerton; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one sister, Vernel Stenjem of Stoughton; two brothers-in-law, both of Stoughton, Lee (Jean) Waag and Norman Hanson; four sisters-in-law: Doris Lund of Cambridge, Shirley Nelson of Edgerton, Mildred (Doc) Vike of Stoughton, Nancy Peterson of Deforest; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael; one grandson, Aaron; two sisters, Lorraine and Audrey (Tubba); three brothers: Ebbie, Edsel and Rollyn; one sister-in-law Carol; two brothers-in-law, David and Jimmy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at CENTRAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Edgerton, with the Rev. James M. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Fassett Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the EHLERT FUNERAL HOME, U.S. Hwy. 51 S, Edgerton, from 3 until 7 p.m. and at the CHURCH on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
