Mark T. Howland, 84, of Milton, passed away early on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, surrounded by his family at home. Mark was born on Nov. 25, 1928, in Detroit, MI, to the late Harold and Leona (Cormur) Howland and moved to Milton, at the age of 14. Mark entered the Navy at the age of 17. On Nov. 24, 1951, at Central Lutheran Church, Edgerton, Mark would marry Lois Irene Ullius. He was a tavern owner for years and worked for Barber Colman. In 1958, he moved to Des Moines, IA, and started an overhead door business for Barber Colman. In 1963, Mark moved to Chicago and continued his work for Barber Colman. He then worked for many years for Buckridge Door Co. as carpenter and retired in 1991. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and was a jack of all trades. He was great at cabinet making, wood carving, and creating sculptures with things he found around the garage.
Mark is survived by his wife, Lois Howland; children: Mark (Lisa) Howland, Jr. of Lake Forest, IL, Matthew Howland of Janesville, Leanne Howland of Milton; grandchildren: Marcus Howland, Emily Heim, Nicholas Howland; sister, Sally Brown of San Antonio, TX; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jon Howland; sisters: Shirley, Elaine, Dorothy; and grandson, Peter Heim.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at CENTRAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Edgerton, with Rev. James Johnson officiating. A luncheon will follow the service with burial to follow at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the start of the service. ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, MILTON, are assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made in Mark's name to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
