Robert D. (Bob) "Captain Crunch" Crosby, Palmyra, WI (1931 - 2013)

Robert D. Crosby, Sr., 81, of Palmyra, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison. Robert was born on Feb. 28, 1931, in Ventura, CA, youngest son of the late Eber R. Crosby, Sr. and Ruth (Wright) Crosby. At the age of three, his parents returned to Delavan. Robert was a 1948 graduate of Elkhorn Area High School. He joined the US Army and served during the Korean War, part of the 13th Engineer Combat Battalion. He retired as an independent trucker and was a gifted diesel mechanic. His jokes and story telling will be missed by his many friends.
Robert is survived by his sons: Robert Douglas (Betty) Crosby, Jr. and David (Mary) Crosby, both of Elkhorn, and William Crosby of Georgia; daughters, Crystal Crosby of Julian, CA, and Jennifer (Ron) Preiss of Milton; grandchildren: Jessica Crosby, Krista Crosby Huerta, Jacob Crosby, Dagny Holt and Chynna Haye; three great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eber R. Crosby, Jr. and Malcolm “Benny” Crosby, both of Delavan.
A memorial gathering will take place on Sunday, Jan. 27 from 2 until 6 p.m. at the EDGE OF TOWN RESTAURANT, W1242 State Rd. 59, Palmyra, WI. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison.
