Evelyn H. Russell, Janesville  (1915 - 2013)

Evelyn H. Russell, age 97, a longtime Janesville resident, passed away early Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Cozy L'il Acre, where she had resided for the past two years. She was born June 12, 1915, in Ripon, WI, the daughter of the late Harry and Ida (Kohnke) Denzin. She was a graduate of Ft. Atkinson High School. On July 4, 1936, she married Perry E. Russell in Ft. Atkinson, WI. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1978. Evelyn worked with her husband as the bookkeeper/accountant for their family business, Russell Construction Co. She and her husband also worked their family farm together in Rock Township. She was a very active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Janesville, and had been a member of the Ladies Aid.
She enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, and was talented and skilled at knitting and crocheting. Evelyn had served as a senior companion well into her eighties, and was also active with the Janesville Senior Center. She loved to travel, and journeyed to Hawaii twice in her later years! Evelyn loved working in her gardens, and especially the beautiful flowers she could grow! But her greatest love was her family, and she spent as much time as possible with them!
Evelyn is survived by her three children: Betty Lohrman of Janesville, Ron (Linda) Russell of Nekoosa, WI, and Jo Ann McCarthy also of Janesville; her seven grandchildren: several great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and friends. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jean; two sons, Johnny and Sonny Russell; a grandson, David Lohrman; her brother, Roy Denzin; and by her two sons-in-law, Daniel McCarthy and Bob Lohrman.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at MT. CALVARY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2940 Mineral point Ave., with Rev. Cory Rajek officiating. Burial will take place in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the CHURCH.
