Cecil L. Schwenkner, Ledyard, CT (2013)

Cecil L. Schwenkner, 83, of Ledyard CT, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, leaving behind his beloved wife of over 60 years, Lorraine (Bois) Schwenkner. Born in Janesville, WI, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Robinson) Schwenkner and was a Ledyard resident for over thirty years. Cecil served his country in the United States Navy as a submariner for over 27 years, serving on the USS Halfbeak, Albacore, John Marshall, Henry L. Stimpson and the USS Kamehameha. He was a member of the American Legion Groton Post 114 and the Fleet Reserve Assoc. In his spare time, he enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching his favorite teams, the Green Bay Packers and the Boston Red Sox. He worked for the New London Post Office in Connecticut for 25 years, retiring in 1999. He will be deeply missed by his loving family.
In addition to his wife, he leaves five children: Michael Schwenkner and his wife, Mary of East Troy, WI, Dale Schwenkner of Niantic, CT, Larry Schwenkner and his wife, Kari, of Wauwatosa, WI, Karen Regnere of Danielson, CT, and Suzanne Hebert of Mystic, CT; brother, Leon “Butch” Schwenkner of Janesville. He was predeceased by one brother, Wayne Schwenkner of Janesville. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: David, Ryan, Matthew, Eric, Corey, Adam and Morgan; and one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie.
Services will be held in Connecticut on Wednesday evening Jan. 16th.
