Stanley A. Kaplan, Sr., Janesville (1928 - 2013)

Stanley A. Kaplan, Sr., age 84, of Janesville, died on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Chicago, IL, on Nov. 12, 1928, the son of John Sr. and Cathryn (Hrobak) Kaplan. Stan served in the US Army during the Korean War Conflict from 1946 until 1949. He married Joan Behm on Nov. 12, 1955, at St. Williams Catholic Church, Janesville, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 2001. Stan was retired from Janesville Sand and Gravel; but had also worked for Fisher Body, Fuller Lumber Co. and Highway Trailer, and had also owned his own vegetable business in Janesville. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, playing cards, polka dancing and helping anyone in need.
Stan is survived by four children: Shelly Perry, Steve (Karla) Kaplan, Jerry Kaplan, Sr. and June (Glen Perry, Sr.) Kaplan, all of Janesville; 12 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; a son, Stan Kaplan, Jr.; a granddaughter, Cassandra; son-in-law, Carl Perry; and five siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville, with Fr. James Kuhn officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the CHURCH. Burial will be at Lake Ripley Cemetery, Cambridge.
