Brian L. Hergert, 57, of Milton, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013. Brian was born on April 24, 1955, to Stanley and Dolores (Manogue) Hergert in Janesville. He attended Milton High School and graduated in 1973. He worked for over 30 years as a Pipefitter for General Motors until retiring 3 years ago. On April 9, 1983, Brian married Jackie Ruszczyk. Brian was an avid hunter and nature lover, spending his free time in the outdoors and up north at a cabin in Adams. He loved going to Grateful Dead Concerts with friends, taking care of all sorts of animals, hiking, and spending time with his dog, Moon. He was a member of the local UAW #95.
Brian is survived by his wife, Jackie Hergert of Milton; son, James Hergert of Milton; parents, Stanley and Dolores Hergert of Milton; sisters: Holly (Mark) Ostertag of Milton, Lori (Steve) Sennett of Beloit, WI, Mary (Ramon) Schiefelbein of Milton, Sue (Ron) Lovlace of Milton, Heidi (Scott) Ullius of Milton, Rene (Tom) Purnell of Milton, Jenny (Chris) Lukas of Milton; beloved dog, Moon; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Ann and Leo Manogue and James and Blanche Hergert.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb.26, 2013, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, Milton, with Msgr. James Uppena officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, MILTON from 5 until 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the start of the service at the CHURCH on Tuesday.
The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice, Dr. Cleary and all the doctors and nurses at UW Hospital for exceptional care and compassion given to Brian and the family. They would also like to thank Jenny Lukas, Sherry Stueck, and all the other dog walkers that made Moon so happy.
