Richard E. Stewart, age 74, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at home. He was born in Janesville, on Jan. 17, 1939, the son of Roy L. and Grace (Dabson) Stewart. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Richard married Dianne Kay Jones in Rockton, IL, on July 17, 1965, and she preceded him in death on April 5, 2001. He had been employed by General Motors, and was a member of the UAW Local 95. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, and watching football, especially the Minnesota Vikings.
Richard is survived by his three daughters: Amanda Stewart-Ryan, Robin Huemiller and Lori Willman, all of Janesville; six grandchildren: Marianne (Jon) Starks, Miko Stewart Ryan, Michael and Danny Meton, Tanna (Matthew) Rodriguez and Haley Stewart; five great-grandchildren: Dakota Stewart, Jodeci Rodriguez, Angel Rodriguez, Natalia Lankford and Noah Starks; two brothers, Russ Stewart and Bill (Judy) Stewart, both of Janesville; many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Angela Stewart; five brothers: Vernon, Wayne, Donald, Robert and Roy, Jr.; four sisters: Delores, Emily, Gwen and Louise; and son-in-law, Richard Willman.
A Funeral Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Pastor Dan Grimes officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME. Private interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery on Wednesday.
