Richard F. Cunningham, age 74, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. He was born in Janesville, on March 14, 1938, the son of Harold and Helen (Campbell) Cunningham. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, and married Claire Layden Bennwitz in Janesville on Feb. 12, 1966. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1999. He married Carol Larson Graves in Janesville on Sept. 27, 2002. He owned the Rock Valley Driver School, and had been a member of St. William Catholic Church. Dick loved college football and his passion was Notre Dame. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Dick is survived by his wife, Carol Cunningham of Janesville; eight children: Connie (Dave) Davis of Janesville, Stephen Bennwitz of Mosinee, Coleen (Dar) Hoffman of Evansville, Tom (Jill) Bennwitz of Verona, Sally (Steve) Feeney of Evansville, Carol (Mark) Severance of Janesville, Peggy Cunningham of Janesville, and Kathy (Rob) Driscoll of Littleton, CO; four step children: David (Jane) Graves of Janesville, Nanci (Robert) Marshall of Middleton, Amy (Michael) Rufo of Chicago, and Peggy Graves of Madison; 26 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Therese (Terry) Stewart of Madison, and Kay (Wayne) Brogelman of Mequon; special cousins, Tom (Sandy) Cunningham and Jerry (Lori) Cunningham, both of Janesville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Claire.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. John Auby officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 until 12 Noon at the CHURCH. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
