Judith A. Betts, Elkhorn, WI  (1944 - 2013)

Judith A. Betts, 68, of Town of Geneva, WI, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI. Judy was born Sept. 11, 1944, in Burlington, WI, the daughter of the late Emmett and Elisabeth (Rueter) Raettig. She graduated from St. Mary’s Central High School Burlington, WI, with the Class of 1962; she then attended the UW-Whitewater, and the College of Medical Technology of Minneapolis, MN. On Oct. 2, 1965, in Burlington, WI, she was united in marriage to James D. Betts. Judy worked for many years as a lab technician with Aurora Health Care Clinic of Elkhorn. She worked for many years as tax preparer with H & R Block of Elkhorn. Jim and Judy owned and operated the Betts Funeral Home of Elkhorn, from 1976 until they sold it to Haase-Lockwood & Associates of Elkhorn, in 2008. Judy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. The greatest joy of her life was being a grandmother.
Judy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jim; one son, David Betts of Elkhorn, WI; and one daughter, Amy (Harvey) Betts-Cohen of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; two grandchildren: Camille and Lydia; one brother, Dr. James Raettig of Arbor Vitae, WI; and one sister, Jane Armstrong of Big Spring, TX; five nieces and nephews: Kathy Loveless, Steve Katzman, John, Matt and Sarah Raettig. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Douglas.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at HAASE-LOCKWOOD & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, WI, with Pastor John LaGalbo officiating. Visitation will be at the FUNERAL HOME on Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made in Judy’s name to the charity of your choice.
