Roy Andrews, Delavan, WI  (1926 - 2013)

Roy Andrews, age 86, of Delavan, WI, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Golden Years Nursing Home in Walworth, WI. He was born on Oct. 26, 1926, in Sharon, WI, the son of Frank and Minnie (Benedict) Andrews. After graduating from Sharon High School in 1944, he enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served from 1944 to 1946. In January of 1947, he began working for the United States Postal Service. He worked for twelve years as a clerk, before being promoted to the Sharon Post Master. He remained with the Post Office for 24 additional years, retiring in 1981. In 1951, he was united in marriage to Shirley Baker. Roy enjoyed playing baseball on the local Sharon team and later coached their local youth baseball for many years. He was a avid sports fan and life long Packer fan and a St. Louis Cardinals fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and collecting stamps. He was also a member of the Sharon American Legion for 57 years.
Roy is survived by his wife, Shirley; great-nieces, Veronica (Ray) Pallach and Bridggette (Ryan) Huml; great-nephew, James (Amber) Baker, all who he treated as his own children; brother-in-law, Bob Wyman, and Jean and John Spaight; several cousins; many more nieces and nephews; and close friends: Dan and Jean Griffin, Don and Trudy Rogers, along with Chet and Dorothy Forsythe. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Lois (Gary) DeVries; nephew, James Baker; and sister-in-law, Beverly Wyman.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at the MONROE FUNERAL HOME in Delavan, WI, with Rev. Matt Richey officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, at the FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon, WI. MONROE FUNERAL HOME in Delavan, WI, is assisting the family.
