Rodney K. "Swede" Selin, Edgerton, WI  (1934 - 2013)

Rodney K. "Swede" Selin, 78, of Edgerton, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 4, 1934, on the family farm in rural Viroqua, WI, son of the late Edwin and Viola (Truax) Selin. He was united in marriage on Oct. 6, 1962, to Judy Hilton at Christ Episcopal Church, in La Crosse. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Edgerton. Swede, worked at GM for 33.4 years until his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed watching the Cubs, the Bears and any other sports. His special love was watching his grandchildren play sports. He played softball and coached Little League. He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1952. He had be a member of the UAW of Janesville and FFA of Viroqua.
Swede is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Judy of Edgerton; one son, James Selin of Edgerton; two daughters, Jody (Ken) Demrow of Evansville, and Shannon (Brian) Demrow of Edgerton; six grandchildren: Cole and Alyssa Demrow, Zack (Jamie) Demrow, Casey (Jeremy) Flikkema, Zeb (Katelyn) Demrow and Katie Demrow; four great-grandchildren: Lain, Kasen, Blaine and Henry; mother-in-law, Lorrine Hilton of Janesville; sisters-in-law, Sarah (Dale) Veitch of Edgerton, and Sue Nanstad of Janesville; and brother-in-law, Tom Hilton of Janesville; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Swede was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Colleen; brothers, Lyle and Robert; and father-in-law, Pearlie Hilton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at ST. JOHN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Edgerton, with the Rev. Carl Seeger officiating. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at the EHLERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, US HWY 51 S, Edgerton, from 4 until 7 p.m. and at the CHURCH on Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
