Nancy Jean Steed, Janesville, WI/Formerly of Mascoutah, IL  (1933 - 2013)

Nancy Jean Steed, age 79, formerly of Janesville, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Terrace on the Park Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL. She was born in Janesville, on Sept. 28, 1933, the daughter of the late Alvin and Madeline (Tobin) Anderson. Nancy graduated from Janesville High School and went on to work at Chambers and Owens as a clerk. While working at Chambers and Owens, she met the love of her life, Michael J. Steed and they were married on July 20, 1957, at St. William's Catholic Church in Janesville. Mike and Nancy were inseparable until Mike's death on Jan. 23, 2005. She built a business making dolls named "Porcelain Dream Dolls." Nancy and Mike enjoyed traveling to doll shows to sell her beautiful creations. Nancy won several awards and even had a doll featured in Doll Crafters Magazine. She has been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and always enjoyed visiting with her friends there. She will be deeply missed by everyone who loved and knew her.
Nancy is survived by two children, Deborah (Randall) Schmit of Janesville, and Michael (Kristina) Steed, Jr. of O'Fallon, IL; three wonderful grandchildren whom she adored: Chelsey (Joe) Lammers, Michael Steed and Ryan Steed; her sister, Sandra (Tom) Cunningham; three brothers: Richard Anderson, Donald (Frances) Anderson and Thomas Anderson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Carol Desens; and two brothers, Robert Anderson and Gerald Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME with Fr. Randy Timmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the FUNERAL HOME.
