Willy "Bill" Bie, Williams Bay, WI  (1922 - 2013)

Willy "Bill" Bie, age 90, of Williams Bay, WI, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Mercy Hospital, Janesville, WI. He was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Copenhagen, Denmark, the son of Soren Olaf and Hilma (Lofgren) Bie, grandson of Laurits Peter and Kirstine Marie Bie and Magnus and Anna Kathrina Lofgren. He married Betty Buikema on Feb. 24, 1945, in Norfolk, VA. Willy graduated from Williams Bay High School in 1941, and served in the U.S. Navy abroad LST 2. He was a self employed carpenter, retiring in 1987. Willy was a member of the VFW Post in Williams Bay, and of Williams Bay Lutheran Church.
Willy is survived by his daughter, Michelle (David) Love of Walworth; grandsons, Eric (Jessica) Bie of Duvall, WA, and Michael (Magen) Love of Walworth; three great-grandchildren: Magnus and Elowen Bie and Melissa Love; brother-in-law, Warren Valley of Williams Bay; and nephews, Tom and David Valley of Williams Bay, and Dan of Alma, CO. Willy was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; his wife, Betty; a son, William Bie; and his sister, Dorothy.
Willy will be remembered by family and friends for his kindness and smile. The family requests memorials be directed to Lakeland Animal shelter.
