Lucile M. Manthey, Janesville (1917 - 2013)
Lucile M. Manthey, age 95, of Janesville, left her earthly home on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. She died at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Center Township, Rock County, WI on October 10, 1917, the daughter of the late Otto and Louise (Schumacher) Manthei. On march 30, 1935 in Rockford, IL, she married Bernard "Ben" Manthey. He predeceased her on June 4, 2004. Over the years, Lucile has been a very faithful and active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her church, faith in God, and Bible Study Classes were very important to her. She was a very classy and proud woman, who loved her family dearly. She looked forward to seeing her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren whom she adored. Lucile was a loving, caring, and big hearted person, who lived by the saying she taught her children; "If you don't have anything good to say about someone, don't say it at all!" She was truly a very remarkable person, who will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her four children: Shirley Bobzien, Donna Louison, and Susan (Kerry) Michaels, all of Janesville, and Terry (Lisa) Manthey of Tyrone, GA; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters, Betty Mitchell of Janesville and Evelyn Lokken of South Milwaukee, WI; and her brother, Gerald Manthei of South Milwaukee, WI; sister-in-law, Mary Manthei of South Milwaukee, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by an infant son who died at childbirth; son-in-law, Ken Bobzien; three brothers; and two brothers-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at ST. PAUL'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 210 S. Ringold St., with Rev. Daniel Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. Memorials would be greatly appreciated if they were made in Lucile's name to St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church.
