Thomas J. "Tom" "T.J." Fischer, Beloit, WI  (1943 - 2012)

Thomas “Tom” “T.J” J. Fischer, 69, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, in his home with his family by his side after a battle with cancer. He was born June 9, 1943, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Anthony Leroy and Ethel Gertrude (Mathieu) Fischer. Tom was a 1961 graduate of St. Francis Seminary High School and a 1965 graduate of St. Francis Seminary College. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corp. Tom married Shirley Ann Fillnow on Aug. 19, 1972, in Milwaukee, WI. Tom started his working career from 1968 to 1972 in Milwaukee, WI, as a parole and probation officer for the State of Wisconsin. In 1972, he moved to Beloit, and continued his career, retiring on Oct. 21, 2005. After retirement, he was employed by the Rock County Juvenile Detention Center as a Relief Supervisor. Tom loved the outdoors, running, swimming, biking, playing ping pong and cribbage. He was an avid runner and ran 56 marathons. Tom was a family man and he and Shirley enjoyed traveling to warmer climates, most recently to Thailand for his son’s wedding. He was a member of the Old Timers Brewers Club. Tom was also a very active in his church holding many offices throughout his lifetime. He and Shirley are currently members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Janesville, WI.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Shirley Fischer of Beloit, WI; children, Seth (Chawesa “Goi”) Fischer of Bangkok, Thailand, and Sarah Fischer of Beloit; granddaughter, Calah Naree Fischer; brothers: William (Penny) Fischer of Herman, Mo, and John (Alexis) Fischer of Denver, CO; sisters, Mary (Jim) Bielefeidt of Columbia, MD, and Margaret Fischer Delonay of Richmond, VA; sisters-in-law, Monica Fischer of Black Eagle, MT, and Lois (Jack) Dallman of Milwaukee, WI; brother-in-law, Don Gallon of Altadena, CA; several nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Richard; and sister-in-law, Carol Gallon.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, in ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 210 S. Ringold Street, Janesville, WI, with Pastor Daniel Decker officiating. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Visitation will also be from 12 p.m. until the time of service Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, in the CHURCH. Memorials may be given in his name to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Janesville, WI.
