Grada M. Seaverson, age 86, of Clinton, died Sunday Oct. 21, 2012, at Azura Memory Care in Beloit. She was born May 3, 1926, to the late Yella and Gertie (Helmhout) Miedema in Rosebud, SD. Grada married Gerald L. “Jerry” Seaverson on June 9, 1945. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2011. She was a long time member of Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church and active in many committees. Grada was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Jerry and Grada farmed their entire married life in the Clinton area. She also worked as a custodian in the Clinton Elementary School from 1965 – 1973. Grada enjoyed cooking, baking, needlework and ceramics.
Grada is survived by one son, Leon (Margaret) Seaverson of Clinton; two daughters, Linda (John McClelland) Seaverson of Ames, IA, and Carol (Fred) Harmon of Janesville; her grandchildren: Gregg (Kristi) Seaverson, Steven Seaverson, Shelly Seaverson, Joshua Seaverson, Alec (Angela) Seaverson, Christina (Kevin Berg) McClelland, John Casper McClelland, Thomas McClelland and Kimberly Sonnenberg. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Allan Duane Seaverson; sisters, Dena Cady and Angeline McNett; and her brothers: Jacob Miedema, Gary Miedema, Carl Miedema and Andrew Miedema.
Grada’s Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday Oct. 26, 2012, at JEFFERSON PRAIRIE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 23184 Bergen Road, Poplar Grove, IL, with Pastor Thomas G. Groth officiating. Friends will be received on Friday at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Following Grada’s service, the cortege will process to Jefferson Prairie Cemetery for interment. A memorial is being established in her name.
