Paul Gerhardt Suby, 82, of Rochester, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at his home. Paul was born Sept. 30, 1930, in Rapid City, SD, to Rev. Irvin A. and Valborg M. (Pederson) Suby. He married Ruth Osterhus on Dec. 30, 1955, in Janesville, WI, and she survives. He served in the US Army National Guard. He was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and former member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed children and after his retirement spent several years as a crossing guard by Elton Hills School. He retired from IBM in 1991, where he worked fifteen years, prior to that he worked in kitchen designing for the lumber industry.
Paul is survived by his wife, Ruth of Rochester; children: Peter Suby (Kerstin) of Rochester, Michael Suby (Susan) of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Tim Suby of Alexandria; grandchildren: Beth Johnson, Joshua Suby (Roxanne), Michale Johnson (Sarah), Matthew Suby, Timothy Johnson, Andrew Suby, Paul Johnson, Haley Suby, Carl Suby, Lance King, and Peyton King; one great-grandson, Liam Johnson; siblings: Lois Boebel of Mukwonago, WI, John Suby (Donna) of Madison, WI, and Valborg Rogstad of Georgetown, TX. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Stephen Paul Suby; three brothers-in-law: Norman Boebel, Archie McFarlan, and Bill Gregory; and a sister-in-law, Joan McGaffin.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2124 Viola Road NE, Rochester, with the Reverend Fred Rengstorf and David Hanssen co-officiating. A visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at RANFRANZ AND VINE FUNERAL HOMES, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the CHURCH. Inurnment will be held in Our Savior's Lutheran Church Columbarium.
