Barbara G. Lyman, age 65, of Hayward, WI, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Water’s Edge Care Center in Hayward, WI. Barbara Gail was born Nov. 28, 1946, in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Oscar and Garnett Olson. She graduated from high school in Janesville, WI. Barb met David Lyman in Hayward while visiting her parents. Barb and Dave were married on Jan. 29, 1966, in Janesville, WI. Together they operated a cranberry marsh for a short time. Barb worked numerous jobs in the Hayward area for BJ’s Restaurant, Fireside Restaurant, Karb’s Coast to Coast and Laska’s Florist. She cooked and waitressed at many of these locations throughout the years. In 1971, Barb and Dave opened Dave’s Gun Shop from their home. Barb quickly became an expert in this area and enjoyed working with people at the shop. Barb will be remembered as a gentle sole that would help anyone who would ask and no matter what, she never complained. She was a collector of many things and loved to cook.
Barb is survived by her husband of 46 years, Dave; one sister-in-law, Darcie Olson of Middleton, WI; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Olson.
An informal memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20th at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH in Hayward. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the CHURCH.
Honorary bearers will be Steve Hudson, Mike Long, Howard Morgan, Ray Shober, Amanda Shober and Ed Zaspel.
