Gerald Alvar Olson, Janesville  (1941 - 2012)

Gerald Alvar Olson, age 70, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at his home in Janesville, following an illness. He was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Mason City, IA, to Alvar and Ruth (Platts) Olson. Gerald served in the United States Army for three years. He married Charleen Hunt on Aug. 21, 1993, in Janesville, WI. Gerald worked in mechanical and electrical design for many years before retiring and driving school bus for Van Galder Bus Company in Janesville. Gerald was a member of the Moose Lodge in Janesville. Gerald will be fondly remembered as an avid euchre player. He also enjoyed watching sports and racing.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 19 years, Charleen Joyce Olson; two sons, Scott (Nova) Olson of Fort Worth, TX, and Steven (Crystal) Olson of Marion, IA; two daughters, Cynthia Bean of Denver, CO, and Susan Olson–Whittle of Mason City, IA; four step sons: Jeffrey A. (Cariena) Hunt of Janesville, Jerome (Collette) Hunt of Janesville, Joel A.(Pennie) Hunt, of Milton, WI, and Kevin L. (Kris) Hunt of Edgerton, WI; one sister, Barbara Jean Query of Mason City, IA; several grandchildren and great–grandchildren; and one aunt, Marge Larson of rural IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1618 E. Racine St., Janesville. A visitation will be held from 11:30 until the time of service at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL HOME. Entombment will take place at Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville.
