Margaret P. Gunn, Janesville (1932 - 2012)

Margaret P. Gunn, age 80, a longtime Janesville area resident, passed away Sunday afternoon, Nov. 25, 2012, at her home. She was born April 15, 1932, in Herne Bay, Kent, England, the daughter of the late Frank and Dorice (Baring) Winch. On May 30, 1953, she married John A. "Dell" Gunn in England. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1999. She came to the United States with Dell after his discharge from the U.S. Air Force, and they farmed in Rock Township.
Margaret was a very active, faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She was one of Sister Lucentia's drivers, and spent many years and much time going with Sister to visit the sick and homebound members of St. Patrick's. She also enjoyed giving of her time as a volunteer at Cedar Crest. Margaret will be remembered for her very generous and giving nature, always putting others first!
She loved tending to her flower gardens, and was also skilled at knitting. Her greatest love was her family, and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren! She also took great pride in her many nieces and nephews.
Margaret is survived by her eight children: Pat (Cindy) Gunn of Whitewater, David Gunn, Richard (Marge) Gunn, Dorice "Bo" Gunn, Mary Teresa Gunn, Thomas (Mindy) Gunn, all of Janesville, Philip Gunn, and Biddle (Wendi) Gunn of Edgerton; her 18 beloved grandchildren: Andrea, Matthew, and Katelyn, Tonia, Tracey, Bob, Becky, and Christine, Angela, John, and Ryan, Amanda, John, and Caroline, Hannah and Luke, Isaac and Keaton; her four dear great-grandchildren: Jacob, Cade, Dirk, and Emma; her two sisters-in-law, Rosie Gunn of Janesville, and Felicia (Homer) Cary of Darien, WI; her cousins: Michael (Eugenie) Winch, Geraldine Jeffery and Faye (Jack) Brown, all of England, and Charles Putwain, of Florida; her many nieces; nephews; and friends. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Gunn.
Funeral services with a Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, with Fr. James Kuhn, Msgr. James Gunn, and Fr. Kevin Dooley co-officiating. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, where a Rosary will be recited by Sister Lucentia at 3:45 p.m. A visitation will also take place on Friday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the CHURCH.
