Marlene L. Cushing, Napa, CA/formerly Janesville  (1931 - 2012)

Marlene L. Cushing passed away peacefully on Nov. 16, 2012, in Napa, CA, at the age of 81. Marlene would be the first to say that she led a full and happy life. She was born in Janesville on Oct. 27, 1931, the daughter of Frederick and Mae (Hodge) Luebke. Marlene graduated from Janesville High School. On Nov. 13, 1954, she married Harry Cushing, Sr. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Janesville.
They lived a happy life in Janesville, raising three children: Harry, Jr., Thomas and Susan. Marlene enjoyed working at Parker Pen and Parker High School. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Marlene and Harry retired to Englewood, FL, in 1988. After Harry passed away in 1994, Marlene continued to live in Florida, and was active in her community. She loved to swim, play golf, volunteer, travel, go to the movies and enjoyed reading. Marlene enjoyed sharing her memories of travel and her times with her children and grandchildren.
In June 2012, Marlene moved to Napa, CA, to be closer to her California family. Though her time there was brief, she was able to enjoy some happy moments with her family and grandchildren. Marlene will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three children: Harry (Nancy) Cushing, Jr. of Denver, CO, Thomas (Tracy) Cushing of Napa Valley, CA, and Susan (Ted) Tuma of Faribault, MN; six grandchildren; and a brother, Larry (Ann) Luebke of Janesville, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Cushing.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at MT. OLIVET CEMETERY, Janesville. Fr. Randy Timmerman will preside and interment will follow.
