Esther A. Krattiger, Brodhead, WI (1918 - 2012)

Esther A. Krattiger, age 94, of Brodhead, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Woods Crossing in Brodhead. She was born on Jan. 26, 1918, in Shullsburg, WI, the daughter of Rhienhart and Minnie (Scheele) Yandry. Esther married Herman Krattiger on Feb. 17, 1940, in Darlington, WI. Esther and her husband farmed in the area from 1940 to 1959, after moving to Brodhead they owned and operated a convalescent home in Brodhead for many years. She also did home health care after that. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Brodhead. She enjoyed antiques, collecting carnival glass and dolls. She was active for many years with 4-H.
Esther is survived by three children: Paul (Barb) Krattiger of Brodhead, Art (Maxine) Krattiger of Mass City, MI, and Carol Demrow of Brodhead; six grandchildren; several step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Idele Zarling; two brothers, Robert and Donald Yandry; son-in-law, Richard Demrow; and a step great-grandson, Ashtian Rufer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at the BRODHEAD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, with Reverend Hap Itson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 until 7 p.m. at EVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Brodhead.
