Joel N. DeLorme, Orfordville, WI  (1936 - 2012)

Joel N. DeLorme, 76, died at his home, on Nov. 18, 2012. He was born July 5, 1936, in Sheboygan, WI. Joel was the son of Norbert and Viola (Harder) DeLorme. He married Joanne C. Schaefer on June 23, 1956, in Stockbridge, WI. Joel served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1957. He received his bachelor’s degree from UW Oshkosh in 1961, and his Master’s degree in 1966, on a fellowship, from Columbia University, SC. He started his teaching career in Waupun, WI, where he taught for three years. His family moved to Orfordville, WI, in 1966, where he taught mathematics for 25 years at Parkview High School. Joel served as a member of the Orfordville Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a big heart. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, reading and playing cards. He was very proud to help his wife start a new career in 2007, by purchasing the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Janesville, WI.
Joel is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joanne; sons: Gary (Kris) and their children, Makai and Kira of Madison; David (Lora), and son Tyler of Belvidere, IL; Joel II (deceased) his children, Jesse, Josiah, Kallistin and their mother, Kim of Brodhead; Kevin (Jenny) and their children, Mitchell, Andrew and Connor of Belleville; sister, Kay (Paul) Huck of Fond du Lac; brother Bill (Harriette) DeLorme of Wisconsin Rapids; and brother-in-law, James Schaefer of California. Joel was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jim; and his son, Joel II.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Footville, with Father Kevin Dooley presiding. A visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov 23, 2012, at NEWCOMER-SILVERTHORN CHAPEL ON THE HILL, Hwy 11 and South Coon Island Road, Orfordville, and at the Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
