Florence Vivian Fry Harvey, Beloit, WI  (1914 - 2012)

Florence Harvey of Beloit, age 97, passed peacefully into eternal life on Nov. 18, 2012, at Azura Memory Care in Beloit, WI, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Dec. 3, 1914, on a farm 4 mi north and 1 mi east of DeSmet, SD, the daughter of Arthur and Lottie (Watkins) Fry. She married Marvin Thomas Harvey in Dubuque, IA, on May 13, 1939. He predeceased her on March 6, 1997. She attended South Dakota schools until the family moved to Rockford, IL, in November 1931. After graduating from Rockford High School in June 1932, she enrolled in St Anthony School of Nursing, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. She then went to work through the Nurses Registry of Rockford. She also worked at area nursing homes and Beloit Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Sun Valley Presbyterian Church. Florence loved to sew and made many of her children’s clothes, including costumes for their dance recitals and bridesmaid dresses. She also loved gardening and was a member of the Green Thumb African Violet Club for many years.
Survivors include her four children: Cynthia (Fred) Miner of Rockford, IL, Suzanne (Sue) (Keith) Hein of Beloit, WI, Thomas (Bette) Harvey of Janesville, WI, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Deeley of Hilbert, WI; and her sister, Lois J. Larson of Janesville, WI. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren include: Michael (Patty) Miner of Hampshire, IL, and their children, Emily and Nathan; Steven (Nacia) Miner of Malta, IL, and their children: Alyssa (Colin) Moulton, Ambria, Anna and Adelaide; Carolyn Miner of Sycamore, IL; Janis (Brian) Quitno of Rockford, IL, and their daughter, Jenna; Kevin (Tracy) Hein of Beloit, WI, and their children: Jessica (Arnoldo) Tejeda Rincon, Stephanie (Jon) Lent, Katie (Nicholas) Tuttle and Melissa Hein; Kari (Ryan) Doege of Aurora, IL, and their children, Savannah and Payton; Daniel Harvey of Janesville, WI; Jason (Stacey) Harvey of Janesville, WI, and their children, Hayden, Cassidy and Flynn; Matthew (Kaoru) Deeley of Kapolei, HI, and their children, Colton and Alana; Shane (Georgina) Deeley of Sherwood, WI, and Sarah Deeley of Brooklyn, NY.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin: brother, Clifford Fry; sister, Liona Heuston; granddaughter, Sheri Lyn Hein; and special friend, Eugene Spence.

A celebration of Florence’s life will take place at SUN VALLEY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1650 Sun Valley Drive, Beloit, WI, on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Ewing officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in her memory to Beloit Regional Hospice.
