Teresa "T" Spors, LECLAIRE, IA/FORMERLY EDGERTON, WI (2012)
November 16, 2012
Teresa “T” Spors, 55, of LeClaire, IA, formerly of Edgerton, WI, passed away on Nov. 16, 2012, at her home, after a very courageous 3 ½ year fight with Ovarian Cancer. Her fight, determination and never give up attitude gave us all the inspiration to Believe. Her Journey here may have ended, but not her spirit…we will always BELIEVE “T”.
T was a native of Edgerton, and daughter of the late Donald “Zab” Zaborek and Gloria “Fido” (Bjornstad) Haried. She attended Edgerton High School, where she met her love of 34 years, “Spors”. T started her college degree by attending Scott Community College and Saint Ambrose University, and then graduated with Honors with a degree in Business and Marketing from William Penn University in December 2008; a day celebrated by the entire family, as we were so proud of her and her accomplishment.
T was employed by John Deere Health in Horicon, WI, from 1986 to 1998, where she was one of the first two employees at that location. The family then transferred with John Deere to Raleigh, NC, where she worked at the Deere Administration office in Human Resources and Credit departments. With another family transfer to Moline in 2001, she worked for John Deere Information Systems, then back to John Deere Health until they were sold to United Health Care (UHC) in 2006. She has been a Sales Operations Specialist for UHC since then in Des Moines, IA, and most recently in Moline, IL, where she has many close friends and co-workers who will always be part of her “work family”.
T was a huge supporter of United Way over the years with both John Deere Health and UHC. She had been a fund raising co-chairperson in Raleigh in 2000, where they helped raise pledges by 300% that led the Commercial & Consumer Equipment Division to be acknowledged with an Outstanding Achievement Award by the state United Way Chapter. Her devotion to helping others will always be what T will be remembered for, she always thought of others first and then helped them whenever she could.
T’s hobbies and interests were, shopping, shopping and shopping; seeing how many catalogs one could get in the mail on any one day; family gatherings for birthdays, and holidays; Post-it notes for “her Boys and Spors”; an avid Wisconsin Sports fans (Packers, Brewers and Badgers); a total supporter of both “her boys” in anything they did and fully devoted, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and a total friend to everyone.
T is survived by her husband, Steve; two great sons and daughter-in-law, Jake Spors of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jesse and Emily Spors, also of Cedar Rapids; by her mother and stepfather, Gloria and Dale Haried; and her father–in-law and mother-in–law, Les and June Spors, all from Edgerton; a sister, Kathy Luzzatto of Iron River, WI; two brothers, Dave “Zab” Zaborek of West Bend, WI, and Dan “Boone/Oats” and Angie Zaborek of Williston, ND; brothers-in-law, Bob “Bobby Gene” and Shellie Spors and Brian “Braino” Spors and Paige Wright of Janesville, WI; nieces and nephews: Mike Spors, Sean Spors, Robby Spors, and Amber LaVeen, and Katie Spors, all of Janesville, Jacquelyn and Mike Thompson and Jason Spors, all of Palm Bay, FL, Adam and Brianna Zaborek of Williston, and Kayleigh Zaborek of Madison, WI, Jon and Cindy Luzzatto of Iron River, and Christian Zaborek of West Bend. She was preceded in death by her father.
