Larry James Wickersham Sr., age 64, died Wednesday Nov. 14, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg, WI. He was born on June 26, 1948, in Stoughton WI, the son of Woodrow and Arlene (Campell) Wickersham. He attended and graduated from Evansville High School. He served in the United States Army from May 13, 1968 to Oct. 11, 1969. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Sharp Shooter Medal. Larry married Georgia Greatsinger on Nov. 5, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, IA. He was employed by Woodman's in Janesville and Madison as a meat cutter for over 25 years before retiring. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 6905 of Evansville. He enjoyed woodworking, the outdoors, watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers. Larry had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Georgia Wickersham of Evansville; four boys: Larry Jr. (Heather) Wickersham of McFarland, Brian (Bridget) Wickersham of Williams Bay, Mike (Jessica) Wickersham of Janesville and Steve (Karla) Wickersham of Evansville; ten grandchildren; three brothers: David (Judy) Wickersham of Janesville, Lyle (Donna) Wickersham of Evansville and Anthony Wickersham of Evansville; a sister-in-law, Elaine Wickersham of Freedom; several nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Thomas Wickersham.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH EVANSVILLE with Reverend Matthew Poock officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville, with Military Rites provided by V.F.W. Post 6905 Evansville.
