Ray Leslie Odegaard, 69, of Janesville, WI, died at his home on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012. Ray was born on May 10, 1943, in Madison, WI, the son of Ray and Viola (Emery) Odegaard. He married Alice Theresa Karberg on May 11, 1963, in Beloit, WI. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2010. Ray was employed as a machinist for nineteen years at Norwood Mills in Janesville, and part time in maintenance at Burger King on Center Avenue in Janesville, until retiring. For many years he was a Boy Scout Leader, and hand made neckerchief slides for many of the scouts. Ray enjoyed woodworking and camping.
Ray is survived by his children: Cynthia (Harold) Wilson, II, and Robin (Timothy) Smith, all of Beloit, Rochelle (Thomas) Traynor of Big Rapids, MI, Ray (Nikki) Odegaard of Greeley, CO, and Robert Odegaard of Janesville; grandchildren: David and Tyler Wilson, Nichole and Ashley Smith, and Erika Odegaard, all of Beloit, Shawn and Travis Traynor of Big Rapids, MI, and Decodah, Nolyen, and Nevaeh Odegaard of Greeley, CO; sisters, Sharron Gains, and Inez Hanson; brothers, Tom, James, Al, and Cecil Odegaard. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters, and his parents.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at HANSEN-GRAVITT FUNERAL HOME, 424 Prospect Street, Beloit, with Reverend Richard Lehmann of Peace Lutheran Church in Janesville, officiating. Visitation is Thursday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. at the FUNERAL HOME. Committal will take place at Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit.
