Calvin "Spud" W. Hinzpeter, 87, of Elkhorn, WI, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the Lakeland Health Care Center, Elkhorn, WI. Spud was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Bloomfield Township, WI, the son of John and Esther Price Hinzpeter. He was united in marriage to Ruth Ferguson on Dec. 7, 1946, in Elkhorn. He graduated from Lake Geneva High School in the Class of 1943. He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and Guam. He owned and operated Spud's Service for 36 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Frank Kresen American Legion Post #24 of Lake Geneva, and the Lake Geneva Lions Club.
Surviving is his wife, Ruth; two sons, Michael (Diane) Hinzpeter of Genoa City, WI, and David (Sara) Hinzpeter of Cody, WY; two grandchildren, Dr. Marin (Dr. James) Darsie and Sean Hinzpeter; a sister, Gertrude (Carl) Sunberg of Bohners Lake, WI; and a brother, Albert Hinzpeter of Fontana, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at IMMANUEL EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH with Pastor MaryAnn Moller-Gunderson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery with Full Military Rites. Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the STEINKE FUNERAL HOME, Lake Geneva, WI, and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the CHURCH.
