Howard LeRoy Kaehler, 82, of Milton, passed away on Oct. 30, 2012, at Mercy Hospital. On Aug. 12, 1930, Howard was born to George Kaehler and Irene Titus in Janesville, WI. He was raised by his grandparents on a rural Newville, WI, farm and was educated in a one room school through the 8th grade. Howard was stationed in Germany, during the Korean Conflict for two years, beginning on March 17, 1951. After returning home, he met and married Carol Jean Langedyk on Feb. 4, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edgerton, WI. Together they raised their six children in Milton, WI. Howard was a lifetime factory worker, retiring from General Motors after 23 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. He also enjoyed his time working in his large garden and raising show quality chickens.
Howard is survived by his six children: Debbie (Dale) Ricksecker of Apopka, FL, Brian Kaehler of Victor, MT, Dean (Joleen) of Milton, Todd Kaehler of Evansville, Carla (Nick) Witte of Watertown, Shelley (Dave) Nofsinger of Milton; four grandchildren: Jordan Kaehler, Ryan, Morgan and Dalton Nofsinger; cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 26, 2012; parents; brother, Mike Messer; and his cousin, Ellery Christian.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. at ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Milton, with the burial to follow at Rock River Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, from 4 until 7 p.m. at ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, MILTON. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be donated to Agrace Hospice, Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, American Cancer Society or Milton Senior Living.
