Joan Mary Marks, Elkhorn  (1938 - 2012)

Joan Mary Marks, 73, died suddenly Friday, May 4, 2012 at her residence. Joan was born on July 26, 1938 to the late Alfred J. and Anna (Grabarec) Kerber in Milwaukee, WI. She married the love of her life Kenneth H. Marks on October 10, 1959 in Oak Creek, WI. On January 15, 1995 Joan received the “Gift of Life”. Ken and Joan enjoyed many years running the Marks’ Greenhouse in Oak Creek before settling in Elkhorn in 2004. Joan was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn where she was an active volunteer. Joan was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed, and always loved.
Joan is survived by her children, Margaret Marks of Waupaca, WI and Kevin (Maureen) Marks of Elkhorn, WI; her 4 grandchildren: Amanda (Jason) Weiss and Tony Strzyzewski all of South Milwaukee and Ryan and Brayden Marks of Elkhorn, WI; great-granddaughter: Kyla Strzyzewski; 2 sisters, Margaret (Edward) Willman of South Milwaukee and Barbara (Ellis) Schmidt of Wabeno, WI; 1 brother, John (Pat) Kerber of Townsend, WI. Joan is further survived by her wonderful and loving donor family, William and Cindy Montag and family, other relatives and many good friends. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ken and 1 sister, Catherine Urbaniak.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH 107 W. Walworth St, Elkhorn, WI with Fr. Oriol Regales officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Elkhorn. Visitation for Joan will be on Wednesday from 11:00AM to 12:45PM at HAASE-LOCKWOOD & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI.
