Ross Tinder, 68, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Madison, WI. He was born in Beloit on May 9, 1943, the son of Riley C. and Evelyn D. (Schoville) Tinder. Ross was a 1961 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Ross married Phyllis E. Knoble on Nov. 28, 1962, in Frankfurt, Germany. Ross was a machinist in various machine shops throughout the area.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Phyllis Tinder of Beloit; son, Randy (Kelly) Tinder of Janesville; four grandchildren: Jessica (Jason) Natter, Jenifer (Seth) Brown, Tristan Tinder, and Wyatt Tinder; one great-grandson, Pierce Natter; mother, Evelyn Crall of Beloit; two sisters, Dinah (Robert) Rhodes of Janesville and Cindy Feld of Arkansas; and half-brother, Gary (Phyllis) Schultz of Rockton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father; stepmother, Vera Tinder; stepbrother, Jim Puhl; and half-brother, Jim Schultz.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, in DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, with Reverend Norman Starks officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home. Memorials may be given in his name to the American Heart Association.
